Model 3A Root 1855 percussion revolver with second type barrel marking, without the pointing hand, which no longer appeared with this marking, octagonal 3 1/2 inch barrel, a fluted cylinder , in 31 calibre. The serial numbers started over with this model and this is number 27. This particular revolver is silver-plated as can be seen in the photographs.
Cased with a one sided "Colts Patent", eagle and shield with E. Pluribus Unum banner flask. A "Colt’s Patent" iron bow-legged .31 calibre mould, a typical period screwdriver, and a green labeled "Eley Bros / London" cap tin. All serial numbers verified matching.
Purchase includes a signed copy of "A Collectors Guide to THE COLT ROOT SIDEHAMMER Manufactured 1855 Through 1870" by Malcolm R. Burnette.
